YCMOU Convocation ceremony
today
The 13th convocation ceremony of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra
Open University will be held today at the University Campus.
IGNOU Vice Chancellor and Distance Education Conference chief
guest V N R Pillay will be the chief guest during the programme,
which will be, begin 11 am.
YCMOU Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajan Welukar will preside over
the programme in which 22120 students will be awarded degrees,
diplomas and certificates. Out of these 8556 students will
be given degrees, 12445 diplomas, 1119 post graduate degrees
including Ph. D. Students who have received maximum marks
in various subjects will also be given gold medals. About
30 students will be given prizes for excellent achievement
in various subjects in the states.
Fest for a Noble Cause
The audition for the North Maharashtra Children and Youth
Festival was Organised by Vaishnavi Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha,
to spread AIDS awareness.
With HIV/ AIDS spreading fast in the country and India ranking
no 2 in the disease, the Government, NGO's and others are
striving to create awareness and stop it from spreading any
further. One of the ways to do so is through cultural programme
by by children and youth. Haath se Haath milao- 2007 is one
such cultural programme, which aims at creating awareness
about HIV / AIDS and rehabilitation for the affected. This
North Maharashtra children and youth festival will be organised
in Nashik by Vaishnavi Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha.
UNICEF Government of India, Maharashtra Government Health
Department and Education Department in collaboration with
School Adolescent Life Skills Education Programme (SALSEP)
are organising this awareness programme throughout Maharashtra.
The audition for the festival began on February 2, 2007, and
concluded on 7 of this month. The first three days were for
auditions for children while the last three days were for
the youth. The events included dance, singing, fashion shows,
beauty contest, poster and slogan competition, rangoli, quiz
competition, special talent and mimicry.
The audition functions inaugurated by Deputy Director of Education
of Education.
INIFD exhibition from today
A three -day exhibition has been organised by INIFD at their
institute
The International Institute of Fashion Design (INIFT) has
organised a three - day exhibition from February 10th to 12th
at the institute, which would comprise of exhibition and sale
of the designs made by students. Students of all the three
sections of the institute would participate in the exhibition.
Clothes, Jewellery and furniture would be on display. Informing
about the exhibition, Ridhee Chhabra of INIFD, says, "This
exhibition is a boost to the students, as people from all
over the city come to see it. Most of the students even get
orders to sell their designs or design something
astra Women's Kabaddi team
for the 33rd National Games to take place at Guwahati, Assam,
during February 9 -18 and for the All India Kabaddi tournament
being held at Chittur (Andhra Pradesh) from Feb. 28. This
will be her fourth entry in the National Games while she is
representing the state for the 15th time in the nationals.
Another Nashikte who also made it in the nationals at Chittur
is the Young, upcoming Rashmi Jain. This tall Rachana Sports
Club girls is all set to make her entry in the senior nationals
thanks to her out standing performance in the last four years.
But surprisingly another sensation from Nashik Sheetal Dane
has not found a place.
