Mrs Bhavana Bhargave
is one of the most active workers in the social and cultural life of Nashik.
Having background of a long period of 35 years service in Education Field
at various posts, she was exposed to many layers of the society. She was
Professor in D.Ed. and B.Ed. colleges and then worked in SCERI, Pune from
1968 to 70. There she edited books and magazines. She was the Editor of
the magazine "Saptashringa" of Nashik Zilla Parishad. While working at
various responsible
positions, she was also
writing stories, novels, biographies , text books and translations. She
received Maharashtra Government award for the biography of Padmashree Dadasaheb
Gaikwad written by her. Her stories, one act plays, interviews etc. have
been broadcast and telecast several times.
She has been associated with
the activities of Sarvajanik Vachanalaya Nashik, Lokhitwadi Mandal, Kalayatan
etc. She has executed a number of programmes through these associations
for school children.
At present she is working
as a Trustee and Dy. Secretary of Kusumagraj Pratishtan. Kusumagraj Pratishtan
has commenced a course equivalent to M.A./M.Phil level ,in Marathi named
"Sahityabhushan" since 1996. Mrs Bhargave has contributed substantially
in getting it activated all over Maharashtra. She is the Secretary of the
Committee of Sahityabhushan Examination.
Her articles, book reviews
in news papers like Sakal, Maharashtra Times and in weeklies and magazines
like Swaraj, Stree etc. are welcomed by literature lovers.
Her work field is not limited
to literature alone. She believes in woman’s emancipation and is actively
involved in the social organizations like "Hunda Nirmoolan Samiti", which
professes abolition of the custom of dowry, Mahila Takrar Niwaran Samiti,
which helps in redressal of the problems faced by women, Bharatiya Ekatmata
Samiti , which works for unification of the Indians, Proudh Nagharik Sangha,
which is a group of Senior Citizens of Nashik.
