Nashik ? |
Nashik
is a historically famous town of Maharashtra. Located on the eastern slopes
of the Sahyadris on the Deccan Plateau, the town is blessed by the river
Godavari that flows through it. In modern times, factors like nice weather,
proximity to Mumbai (just about 180 Km away), and connections to major
cities by air, trunk rail route and national highways have helped this
district town grow rapidly. Spread over an area of 10 sq. km (and still
spreading out as it grows) the town has a population of over 600,000.
No
wonder many multinational corporations such as Siemens, Glaxo, XLO, ABB,
MICO etc., apart from national majors such as Garware, Crompton Greaves,
Gabriel, Ceat Tyres; VIP Industries have established major operations there.
More major industrial towns are shaping up nearby, and have so far attracted
Shalimar plants, Raymond Steel, Samosonite, Graphite Vicarb at Vadivarhe
and CCI, L&T, Saw Pipes, etc. at Sinnar.
Nashik
is attractive in many other respects too. The cost of living is reasonably
low (much lower compared to Mumbai). Facilities like schools, colleges,
recreation centres are available in plenty and with good quality. Buying
/ leasing good housing premises is affordable. Those migrating to Nashik
now do stand to gain appreciably being early migrants.
